Andy slavitt background1/15/2024 Overall, Project N95 has played a crucial role in addressing the PPE shortage during the pandemic, and it continues to provide support to healthcare workers and organizations as the fight against COVID-19 and other respiratory contagions continues. The organization has also expanded its offerings to include other types of PPE, such as surgical masks, gloves, and gowns.Īfter first exclusively serving healthcare organizations in 2020, Project N95 expanded access to it's online marketplace to allow members of the public to purchase medical-grade PPE. Since its founding, Project N95 has provided PPE to thousands of healthcare organizations across the United States, including hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics. We also provided a platform for healthcare organizations to place orders and track shipments. To achieve this goal, we established a vetting process for suppliers to ensure they met certain quality standards. Project N95's mission was to connect healthcare organizations, government agencies, and other groups with trusted suppliers of PPE, including N95 masks, as well as to provide guidance on how to use and properly fit the equipment. These masks were in high demand during the early stages of the pandemic, and there were shortages around the world. The project's name, "N95," refers to a type of respirator mask that is designed to filter out at least 95% of airborne particles. Many of these organizations did not have the procurement teams set up to do this. The usual sources of supply quickly dried up, leaving healthcare provider organizations to buy products from unvetted global manufacturers with whom they had never worked. In the early days of the COVID-19 crisis, it became abundantly clear that manufacturers were not going to be able to keep up with the global demand for personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontline workers. Andy is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, (BA and BS) and Harvard University, (MBA).Project N95 was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, with the goal of providing healthcare workers with access to the personal protective equipment (PPE) they needed to protect themselves and others from the virus.
